Afterlife – Series 1 & 2 Box Set
I remember when Afterlife was broadcast on Australian TV, it was around the time we also got Ghost Whisperer and Medium but after watching a couple of episodes of each of those shows and being rather unimpressed with both I just never bothered with Afterlife because I just assumed it would be more of the same – what a mistake that was.
Both series of the show came and went and it never entered my mind again until recently when I was looking for something cheap to pad out an order from Amazon and the series 1 and 2 boxset popped up and it was extremely cheap so I thought “what the hell”, it eventually arrived and then sat here unopened for a couple of months.
Well my wife is away in Sydney and I was looking for something to watch and I decided to watch an episode of Afterlife, two days later and I’ve watched both series and it was a fantastic show, in comparison both Ghost Whisperer and Medium now seem so watered down ( I’ve seen the odd episode here and there ) that I now doubt I could take either show even slightly seriously.
Afterlife was a show that told it’s story in the way the producers felt it needed to be told and they didn’t feel obligated to end every story with a feel good Hollywood style happy ending – fantastic stuff and it’s still pretty cheap on Amazon UK.
You could do far worse than this series if you enjoy a good supernatural TV series and if you are a fan of either Ghost Whisperer or Medium you should check the show out and you’ll be treated to a much more mature take on similar themes.

I just saw this conversation and I have to say that the pilot hooked me. I’m part way into series two and it’s pushing the boundaries of what was established in the first series but I am still enjoying it. Great acting all around. Series one is quite good. Series two takes a bit of time to warm up to.

Series 2 does take a while to really get going but they did some things during that series I really liked and the Rat Catcher episode was just plain creepy.
