NBC reveals Scifi heavy slate
NBC has recently released it’s slate for the Fall ’08 and Summer ’09 television schedule. Revealing many returning shows and a whole slew of new shows slated to come in the Fall and Summer of ’09.
Coming May 29th, is the new horror anthology series Fear Itself, and will feature actors including John Billingsley and Shiri Appleby and directors including Brad Anderson, Mary Harron, Ernest Dickerson, Ronny Yu, John Carpenter and Stuart Gordon. For the Fall ’08 season, Chuck and Heroes return with new episodes, airing Mondays at 8pm and 9 pm EST respectively. My Own Worst Enemy, airing Mondays at 10 p.m. Christian Slater comes to television in what the network is saying is a combination of Jekyl and Hyde meets Jason Bourne. Slater plays Henry Spivey who learns of his alter ego Edward Albright, who is fluent in many languages and kills with his teeth. Rounding out the Fall schedule is the revamp of the David Hasselhoff classic “Knight Rider” which continues on where the pilot left off this Winter.
In 2009 NBC will bring Merlin, a new series which will follow the lives of King Arthur and Merlin before they become heroes, and will star Colin Morgan (Doctor Who) as Merlin, Bradley James as Arthur, and co-star Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Richard Wilson and Angel Coulby. And, The Listener, which will follow a 24 year-old paramedic with psychic abilities who had ignored his talents untill a change of heart when he decides to use his gift to help people.
NBC will also air a 4 hour mini-series, The Last Templar, where four horsemen dressed as knights crash the New York Metropolitan Museum during the opening of an exhibition of Vatican treasures and swipe an arcane medieval decoder, thereby sending an archaeologist (Mira Sorvino) and an FBI agent (Scott Foley) on a wild chase for the secrets of the Knights Templar. Co-stars include Victor Garber and Omar Sharif.
